Naglieri and master teacher, Kathleen Kryza combine their expertise to bring you three one-hour webinars filled with research-based strategies to support school psychologists, teachers, parents and students in these trying times when so many things have changed. The sessions will emphasize how we all can cope better if we use our  Executive Functioning skills to figure out how to manage new demands such as learning in a virtual classroom, staying focused, and the importance of staying connected.

Session 2 PART ONE:  How do I get kids to “think positive, act smart?” – Monday April 20, 2020 4 pm

  • EF in Action: Tim—a Case Study
  • Tools and Tips for teaching kids to be metacognitive Before, During and After Learning
  • Before: Preparing to Learn
    • Developing a Growth Mindset (self-evaluation is EF)
    • Establishing and keeping routines (establishing is EF)
    • Being prepared for the work ahead (organizing is EF)
  • During:
    • Chunk, Chew, Check—That’s how the brain learns best! (Chew is EF)
    • The Chewing is where the Learning is Happening
  • After:  Self-assessment and self-reflection (self evaluation and correction)
    • Realistic reflection
    • Monitoring and adjusting

 Session 3 PART TWO:  How do I get kids to “think positive, act smart?” – Wednesday April 22, 2020 4 pm

  • EF manifested as Social-Emotional Challenges
    • Research on the Social Emotional Impact on Learning
    • Stress/Trauma/Anxiety as a disrupted of EF
  • Tools and Tips for what to do when a kid (or you!) “flips their lid”
    • Using EF to make wiser choices
