Attention School Psychologists, Teachers, and Administrators!
NYASP Live Events Presents A Special Online Webinar Series:
Resilience Upon Reentry: Building a Trauma-Sensitive School in our New World
We know that we are all undergoing a major transition due to the effects of COVID-19. Although we are all in the same storm, “we are not all in the same boat. Some are on super-yachts. Some have just the one oar.” As a result, both staff and students will have different reactions to our new world. However, what is clear is that we will need to build resilience and prioritize the social-emotional needs of both students and staff for the 2020-2021 school year.
In this two-part workshop, participants will learn how to build resilience and be trauma-sensitive with their students and themselves.
- Create a working definition of what it means to be trauma sensitive and why it's important.
- Understand cognitive, academic, and behavioral responses to trauma and their impact on learning and behavior.
- Develop practical strategies to build resilience in order to be better prepared for re-entry in September.
